The global context

 

 GAELA

English Australia meets and consults regularly with other language associations worldwide via a forum called the Global Alliance of Education & Language Associations (GAELA). 

English Australia’s Executive Director is the immediate past Convenor of GAELA (2007 to 2011).

 FELCA

English Australia meets and consults regularly with agent associations worldwide via a forum called the Federation of Education & Language Consultant Associations (FELCA).

 

 ALTO

English Australia is a member of the Association of Language Travel Organisations (ALTO), a forum joining leading language travel agents, schools, and national associations as one global community.

English Australia’s Executive Director was elected to the Board of ALTO in 2011 for a one year term.

English Australia is a partner of and cooperates with the European Association of Quality Agencies, which groups together quality agencies from the pan-European area and focuses on raising the standards of the student travel industry.

English Australia has a formal affiliation with the Council of International Students Australia (CISA), the national peak student representative body for international students studying in Australia. 

 

 

English Australia has a formal affiliation with the Australian Internships Industry Association (AIIA), a body that unites industry partners and key governing bodies within Australia in the common goal of striving for best policies and practices for domestic and international internship programs.

 

 

The local context – federal government

English Australia's Executive Director is a member of the Coordinating Council for International Education, established in 2015 by the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, Minister for Education & Training.

English Australia engages with the following government departments at a range of formal and informal levels:

 

 

The Australian Government Department of Education and Training works with the education sector, other government agencies and ministries to ensure Australia is recognised as a regional and world leader in education and a partner of choice for international collaboration. The department provides leadership and coordination across government, delivering programs and policies, to support mobility and the global exchange of knowledge.

 

 Austrade

Austrade, the body responsible for the international marketing and promotion of Australian education and training.

 

 

The Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP). 

English Australia’s Executive Director is a member of the Education Visa Consultative Committe (EVCC).


 

The local context – regulatory bodies

 

 ASQA

English Australia engages with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) at a range of formal and informal levels, including quarterly meetings that focus on ELICOS specific issues and include TEQSA representatives.

 

 

English Australia engages with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) at a range of formal and informal levels, including quarterly meetings that focus on ELICOS specific issues and include ASQA representatives. English Australia was delighted to sign the MoU with TEQSA.

- English Australia Board member, Ian Aird, is a member of the Study NSW Advisory Board.

- English Australia Board member, Ann Wright, is a member of the Victorian International Education Ministerial Advisory Roundtable.

- English Australia Board member, John Paxton, is a member of the Study Perth Board.
