2013 Action Research in ELICOS Program participants announced

English Australia was delighted by the response to the call for Expressions of Interest in this year's Action Research in ELICOS Program, supported by Cambridge English Language Assessment. Interest in this unique opportunity for high level professional development with international expert in action research, Anne Burns, is increasing every year, making the Reference Group's task in selecting participants very challenging.

From 16 EOIs involving 29 teachers in almost all Australian states and territories 6 projects were selected, and the following teachers will meet in Sydney in early March for their first workshop with Professor Burns.

Simon Cosgriff, Curtin English, WA (Harnessing formative feedback for oral skills improvement)
Tim Dodd & Selena Kusaka, La Trobe Melbourne, VIC (Using Web 2.0 technologies to provide better feedback on spoken academic ‘texts’)
Martin Dutton & Arizio Sweeting, ICTE-UQ (Enhancing the production of connected speech in non-native speaker teacher learners)
Angie Nazim & Emily Mason, UNSW Global, NSW (Assessing spoken academic presentations)
Becky Steven & Jessica Cobley, UWA Centre for English Language Teaching, WA (Using a wiki to enhance speaking fluency)
Jennifer Wallace, The English Language Company, NSW (Encouraging students to autonomously diagnose and resolve their accuracy in speaking)

English Australia congratulates this year's participants, and thanks their colleges for their support.

Outcomes of the projects will be shared at the English Australia Conference in Perth in September, followed by further presentations and publications.
