Opportunity to participate in Italian Agent & Journalist Fam Trip

English Australia is coordinating a Fam Trip to Australia in November/December 2012 for 7 agents and 3 journalists from Italy.  This trip is being organised in cooperation with IALCA, the Italian Association of Language Consultants and Agents.

Participation is open to English Australia member colleges only and places are limited so member colleges are encouraged to respond to this email ASAP to confirm their interest in participating.

Member colleges will be asked to pay a fee of $2,000 to participate in the program.  This fee will cover the inclusion of one campus in the program for a site visit by the agents/journalists as well as participation in all social events organised for your city.

The agents belong to medium sized agencies dealing mainly with adult students but also with juniors, both individual and groups.  They are interested in gaining a wide knowledge of Australia’s education offerings for Italian students and are interested in meeting not only with stand-alone ELICOS providers, but also with colleges that work closely with organisations in other sectors, including high schools, universities and vocational colleges and those offering internship or work and study options.

Purpose

Italy is a relatively new market for Australia, but one that has shown strong growth over the last 18 months.  The 2011 statistics for Italian students (across all visa types) can be downloaded from the English Australia website at:

YTD August 2012 student visa commencement data also shows that numbers of ELICOS students from Italy on student visas have grown by 61% over this eight month period.  With 822 commencements YTD, Italy is now the 12th largest source country for ELICOS student visa holders this year.

English Australia is organising this fam trip at the request of IALCA, one of the key agent associations in Italy who has expressed a keen interest in providing their members with a better understanding of what Australia has to offer the Italian market.

This opportunity to view firsthand the diverse range of ELICOS colleges across Australia will help to promote Australia as a key destination for quality English language learning and demonstrate the high standard of facilities available.

Program

The trip is scheduled to take place between 25 November and 4 December 2012.

The program will include:

§   visits to participating member college campuses (2 hour duration for each)

§   sightseeing activities

§   hosted networking lunches/dinners/functions

Support is being sought from local tourism and education promotional bodies.

Member colleges should reply to this email ASAP to confirm their interest in participating.
