Call for Nominations for NSW State Delegate position - deadline 26 November 2012

It is with regret that English Australia announces that due to the closure of Milton College, Susan Sharpe has had to step down from her position as State Delegate for NSW on the English Australia Board.

As a result of this, a casual vacancy for this State Delegate position now exists on the Board. English Australia is calling for nominations to fill this position by the deadline of 26 November 2012.

Those interested in nominating should note that, as this is a casual vacancy, the position will only be held until the next annual general meeting in September 2013 (as per the Constitution).

The casual vacancy will cover the period from appointment to the AGM and will include attendance at three Board meetings in Sydney in February, May and August 2013.

Eligibility

Only persons who:
(a) in the case of a Full Member who is an incorporated ELICOS Centre, are directors, employees or office holders of a Full Member or who are engaged in the administration or management of a Full Member; or
(b) in the case of a Full Member who represents an unincorporated ELICOS Centre, are directors, employees or office holders of the ELICOS Centre or who are engaged in the administration or management of the ELICOS Centre,
shall be eligible to stand for and be elected to the Board.

A person who is a director, employee or officeholder of a Full Member or is engaged in the administration or management of a Full Member, or in the case of a Full Member who represents an unincorporated ELICOS Centre, is a director, employee or officeholder of the unincorporated ELICOS Centre or is engaged in the administration or management of the unincorporated ELICOS Centre, may not hold office as a Board Member if another person who is a director, employee or office holder of, or is engaged in the administration or management of, the same Full Member or same unincorporated ELICOS Centre holds office as a Board Member at the same time.

The nominee must be from a member college in NSW.

English Australia member colleges may nominate any persons who meet the eligibility criteria above who wish to stand for the position of State Delegate.

Procedure

English Australia Member Colleges may nominate persons for this position by using the appropriate Nomination Form. This can be downloaded from the Board Elections page of the English Australia website.

Please return the completed form to English Australia, Level 3, 162 Goulburn Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010 (fax: 02 9264 4313 or email:  easec@englishaustralia.com.au) by 5.00pm (EST) on Friday 26 November 2012.

Nominations received after 5.00pm on 26 November will not be accepted.

All nominations must be seconded and must be accepted by the nominee.

Nominees are requested to provide no more than one A4 page of information about themselves. This information may be distributed to membership to assist members to make informed decisions and cast their votes. Nominees are requested to include the name of their institution and to indicate if any other representative from their institution is currently a Board Member and is not stepping down.
