2012 Action Research in ELICOS Program - Call for Expressions of Interest

English Australia, in partnership with Cambridge ESOL, is again offering ELICOS teachers the opportunity to undertake small-scale classroom based action research projects in 2013, led by international authority on action research, Anne Burns.

Up to eight teachers working in colleges registered on CRICOS to deliver ELICOS will be supported.

Program goals
The goals of the program are:
a) to equip teachers with the skills to enable them to explore and address identified teaching challenges in the context of Australian ELICOS; and
b) to share outcomes of this research in the form of publications as well as presentations at local events and at the English Australia Conference, which will be in Perth in 2013.

Priorities for research

In 2013 there will be a focus on teaching, learning and assessing speaking, a key area of concern identified by staff at English Australia member colleges. In particular, through action research the program aims to identify effective classroom interaction practices that enhance and integrate speaking skills development and take into account the assessment of learner progress and/or achievement. Details of the research focus are available at www.englishaustralia.com.au/2013_action_research_program.html.
