Action Research in ELICOS Program - Expressions of Interest invited

• Would you like to systematically explore an aspect of your teaching and find out more about how your students learn?
• Would you like to work with enthusiastic and talented teachers from around Australia?
• Are you an academic manager seeking to reinvigorate your teaching team?

2014 will mark five years of the award-winning Action Research in ELICOS Program and English Australia, in partnership with Cambridge English Language Assessment, is once again offering ELICOS teachers the opportunity to undertake small-scale classroom based action research projects, led by international authority on action research, Anne Burns.

The goals of the program are:
a) to equip teachers with the skills to enable them to explore and address identified teaching challenges in the context of Australian ELICOS; and
b) to share outcomes of this research in the form of publications as well as presentations at local events and at the English Australia Conference, which will be in Melbourne in 2014.

Research focus
In 2014 there will be a focus on teaching, learning and assessing reading, a key area of concern identified by staff at English Australia member colleges. In particular, through action research the program aims to identify effective classroom practices that enhance and integrate reading skills development and take into account the assessment of learner progress and/or achievement. Details of the research focus are available at www.englishaustralia.com.au/2014_action_research_program.
