Dear English Australia PD contacts,
Cambridge English now has a professional development framework to assist teachers to self-assess, track and plan their own development. To help teachers use the framework, Cambridge has recently developed a Teacher Development Tracker which guides teachers through the framework with simple questions. The tracker is not yet available to teachers world-wide and Cambridge are inviting teachers to participate in a trial of the Tracker and to answer some survey questions about it afterwards.
I had a thorough look through the Teacher Development Tracker and found it a really useful tool to remind me about all the different components involved in teaching and to see how proficient I am in each area. I am sure it will be useful for teachers and people managing professional development programs in colleges. The Cambridge English Teaching Framework includes five categories and the Tracker relates to these:
• Learning and the Learner • Teaching, Learning and Assessment • Language Ability • Language Knowledge and Awareness • Professional Development and Values
If you, or any teachers you know, would like to participate in the trail, please follow the links below before 22 December 2014. All data captured through the Tracker and questionnaire will be anonymous. The trial involves:
1) Working through the Tracker (approximately 30 minutes) 2) Looking through the Cambridge English Teaching Framework (approximately 10 minutes) 3) Completing an online feedback questionnaire (approximately 20 minutes)
